Crashing the (Launch) Party! [Philadelphia]

  • William Way LGBT Community Center 1315 Spruce St Philadelphia, PA, 19107 United States (map)

August 1, 2015 will mark the 15-year anniversary of direct action against the prison industrial complex and the arrest of hundreds of activists in downtown Philadelphia during the RNC 2000. Join us from 2-4 PM at the William Way LGBT Community Center for free food, drinks, music, video footage, an historic slideshow, and a raffle to celebrate the publication of Crashing the Party: Legacies and Lessons from the RNC 2000 by Kris Hermes! Hear the author, as well as former RNC arrestees, legal workers, and lawyers speak about their experiences from 2000, and how they relate to today's movements for social change.

RSVP at the Facebook event page, and please spread the word! See you there!

*UPDATE: AFTER PARTY AT Fergie's Pub, 5:30 - 9 pm!*
(1214 Sansom St., Philadelphia, at reserved area in outdoor beer garden)

Following the book launch, join us to celebrate resistance and collective action! Meet other Philly folks who are organizing to demand that not one cent of city funds go to new weapons for the police to use during the 2016 DNC—and that schools, housing, transit and public health funding be restored!
